The Second Sunday of Easter
In the reading from the Gospel of John for the Second Sunday of Easter, we have the well-known account of Jesus appearing before his disciples in the absence of Thomas, and then later in the presence of Thomas. The period in between gave rise to “Doubting Thomas.” Yet, this same man, upon seeing and touching, gives one of the most succinct confessions of faith in all of scripture: “My Lord and my God!”
Collect: Almighty and everlasting God, who in the Paschal mystery hast established the new covenant of reconciliation: Grant that all who have been reborn into the fellowship of Christ’s Body may show forth in their lives what they profess by their faith; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
