The Second Sunday in Lent
This is the second of five Sundays in Lent before Palm Sunday, which marks the beginning of Holy Week. Today in Luke’s gospel, we have one of the many accounts of Jesus rebuking the Pharisees. He foretells his arrival into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday (as well as his second coming at a time unknown), with the words, “And I tell you, you will not see me until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!'”
Collect
O God, whose glory it is always to have mercy: Be gracious to all who have gone astray from thy ways, and bring them again with penitent hearts and steadfast faith to embrace and hold fast the unchangeable truth of thy Word, Jesus Christ thy Son; who with thee and the Holy Spirit liveth and reigneth, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
