DESCRIPTION:Easter Day\, also called the Sunday of the Resurrection\, is the prototype for all Sundays of the Christian year. Indeed\, every Sunday is a celebration of the resurrection\, as it calls to remember that first Easter Morn\, which changed the world forever. Come and join those in our parish who gather together on this morn in praise of the one who died and rose again that we may have life\, and have it abundantly. \nCollect: O God\, who for our redemption didst give thine only-begotten Son to the death of the cross\, and by his glorious resurrection hast delivered us from the power of our enemy: Grant us so to die daily to sin\, that we may evermore live with him in the joy of his resurrection; through the same thy Son Christ our Lord\, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit\, one God\, now and for ever. DESCRIPTION:On Good Friday\, the Church commemorates the suffering of Jesus on the Cross\, and his death. This event brings us into the heart of the Christian Gospel: when given a choice between God and themselves\, the powers of this world choose themselves. If the Cross was the last word\, it would mean the death of God. But stay tuned. God has the first and last word\, and through him\, death is defeated once and for all. For Christians\, therefore\, the Cross is a symbol of the death of death. \nCollect: Almighty God\, we pray you graciously to behold this your family\, for whom our Lord Jesus Christ was willing to be betrayed\, and given into the hands of sinners\, and to suffer death upon the cross; who now lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit\, one God\, for ever and ever. DESCRIPTION:On Maundy Thursday\, the Church commemorates the Last Supper that Jesus ate with his disciples before his passion and death. In the 1979 Book of Common Prayer\, attention is given to the words of Our Lord on this very night\, as recorded in John 14 and 15: \n\nThe Lord Jesus\, after he had supped with his disciples and had washed their feet\, said to them: Do you know what I\, your Lord and Master\, have done to you?
