Welcome to Building News center, where you will find information about Bethesda’s new parish house and community center.
The new parish house, to be located adjacent to the church on Washington Street, Saratoga Springs, will be a center for parish fellowship, study, administrative offices and music ministry.
We will also welcome and provide a housing resource for members of the wider community, in keeping with Jesus’s teaching in Matthew 25:40, “Truly I tell you, when you have done it to one of the least of these, you have done it unto me.”
To that end, the Vestry has authorized the incorporation of Mercy House of Saratoga, Inc., a non-profit organization that will coordinate and manage accommodations for 40 or more individuals in need. Our plan is to partner with locally-based organizations that need housing for individuals who are suffering from various disabilities, including alcohol or substance use disorders, mental illness or developmental disabilities, as well as race track backstretch workers needing recovery and recuperation. More information about Mercy House can be found at www.mercyhousesaratoga.org.
We are not at the finish line yet. Our partnerships are in place. Mercy House is being established, and a board of directors will be appointed and organized. A capital funding appeal is planned, reaching out to the community to allow others to support the Mercy House mission.
Building Committee Minutes provide a chronological account of the parish’s progress.
Capital Campaign news will keep you up to date on our funding progress.
